Room 10

Room 10 has had a fantastic Term 2.

In English, we put our narrative writing skills together and did some shared writing. We used the Seven Steps and followed the writing process to write a story based around our prompt ‘The Box’. We also recorded ourselves reading them aloud, then turned our recordings into a QR code for people to scan and listen. We loved hearing everyone’s stories!

In Maths we have been learning how to calculate area and perimeter. We learnt about Piet Mondrian, a famous Dutch artist best known for his abstract paintings. We took inspiration from these paintings and used the Number app to create our own, from which we could then calculate the area and perimeter of each shape.

We love working with our PP/1 buddy class! Lately, we have been helping them with their story setting for Jack and the Beanstalk.

Throughout this term, we have been training hard for Cross Country. Last Thursday we put our training into action. We had a great morning and showed determination and resilience. Even the wet weather couldn’t slow us down!

We recently had Pyjama Day. We loved coming to school in our cosy PJs, it was the best!

Room 21

This year in Room 21 we have been learning about different celebrations and early explorers in HASS. We have also been building rubber band cars for technology. We raced them and recorded how far the cars went. We made a few design changes along the way and most of them turned out well. After we had made changes and recorded distances, we put all the facts on a sheet. We used a bar graph to show how many centimetres our rubber band car went.

Then, we moved to our new amazing classroom! Our classroom is really cool because the new undercover area is connected to it. We have really cool decorations in the classroom and very colourful furniture. We are a really fun class.   By Amaya

Room 26

We have been very busy in Room 26 this term!

In English, We have been learning about persuasive writing using the Seven Step process. This has allowed us to actively participate in captivating debates and craft compelling arguments. We have been thoroughly enjoying collaborative learning experiences as we engage in group discussions and activities.

In Maths, we are exploring multiplication. We are currently deeply engrossed in the creation of our own captivating board games which we will share with fellow students across various year groups within our school. We have also been practising our skills in the precise measurement of quantities, specifically litres, and millilitres.

We were fortunate to have recently done our cross-country event which turned out to be a wonderful day for all.

 Room 28

Students fromRoom 28 have been extremely excited to watch the new undercover area evolve! We were thrilled to collate all the new name suggestions for the new building. Students made posters to share with other classes to prompt them to give us their suggestions. They collated all the names, made tally tables, produced graphs, and researched the Noongar names for all the suggestions. We came up with a final 9 names to be presented to the School Board. They produced a keynote presentation with these 9 names. They did a great job! The fence coming down on Monday was a very exciting day! Once the fence was down, we spent some time (with gloves and bags!) picking up any rubbish around the new building to make sure it looked amazing!

The students look forward to each Friday afternoon, with a STEM challenge to end the week. Here are some photos of some of this term’s challenges.

We also enjoyed the Pyjama Day this term.

Students were able to bring in one small soft toy, smaller than 30cm, and then as part of that week’s STEM challenge they had to design a home for it. We also used them to write descriptive sentences. A great day was had by all, as you can see from the photos!
