Independence Centre

Curriculum

This week was a short but busy week in the Independence Centre!

In Writing, we learnt how to write a conclusion for our Information texts. We’ve been working hard to get our information ready to present to each other next week.

In Reading, we were practising the Reciprocal Reading Role of the clarifier. We read different non-fiction texts and clarified words we didn’t know or sections we didn’t understand.

In Maths, we learnt about angles. We looked around the classroom for different objects that had obtuse, reflex, acute and right angles and straight lines. We also did an activity that made us use different multiplication and division strategies.

In Science, Stephan went to a place that had a kind of soil that was from a part of a gold mine and there was a chance we would get gold and get to keep it. We looked for the honey rocks and we also had a bucket of clay. Stephan showed us how to pan and he demonstrated how to look into different places around the pan for the gold.
