Congratulations Michael Mazengarb OAM

SVC 1957-66

On the King’s Birthday Public Holiday, 22 Tasmanian were named as recipients of OAMs (Medal of the Order).

Numbered amongst these was Michael Mazengarb (SVC 1957-66).

Michael’s career was in the advertising, marketing and public relations area. However, he has contributed enormously as a volunteer.

His citation with the award reads ‘for service to the community through a range of organisations’.

To expand on the above generalization. Among Michael’s involvements have been:

  • An association with Asthma Tasmania
  • Board Membership of Calvary Hospital
  • Board Membership of Southern Cross Care
  • A Director of Taspac industries
  • Established the Tasmanian arm of Kidsafe and then went on to serve as Treasurer of the national body. Was elected to the role of National President but had to resign after a brief period due to health concerns.
  • Has served on the Board of the Australian Institute of Sport
  • Has served on the Theatre Royal Board
  • Has served on the Board of the Rosny Children’s Choir
  • Volunteer work at the Queen Victoria Home

Little wonder that he was nominated for recognition. The St Virgil’s College community extends its congratulations.
