The St Virgil’s College Community was shocked to hear of the sudden death of 21-year-old former student, Kane Symons. Kane was one the fatalities in the tragic bus crash in the Hunter Region of NSW on Sunday 11 June.
Kane started at the College as a Year 3 student in 2010 and graduated from Year 10 in 2017.
He was heavily involved in wide range of sporting pursuits whilst at St Virgil’s as the Year Books for that period show – mountain biking, football, swimming, water polo, surfing and touch football. He represented the Tasmania for surf lifesaving in national competition.
He was closely associated with the Carlton Park Surf Life Saving Community and with the Lauderdale Football Club.
Kane had moved to the Mainland and was doing an apprenticeship as an electrician.
The abundance of tributes in the media attest to the qualities of this young man AND to the esteem with which he was held.
The St Virgil’s Community extends its deepest sympathies to the Kane’s family and friends. Kane’s sister, Jamie, is a member of staff at Austins Ferry.
Rest in peace Kane.
