Half Year Reporting Process

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to access their child’s/children’s midyear report on Compass. It has been great reading about all the celebrations and future learning goals of students. Teachers have spent significant time gathering data, analysing the results and creating the written reports and judgements against the Victorian Curriculum. We are very thankful for the effort and time our teachers put into celebrating the learning journey that the students have experienced this semester. 

We have one more very important part of the reporting process to go; the Parent Teacher Interviews and 3 Way Conversations. These meetings are the best chance to understand the written report in finer detail.

During the Parent Teacher Interviews for Prep - Year 2 students, your child’s teacher will be able to:

• Provide further explanation on reports
• Elaborate on the level of achievement and level of progress of the student
• Elaborate on effort and work habits
• Elaborate on social and emotional aspects of schooling
• Provide parents with a chance to ask questions.

During the Three Way Conversation for Years 3-6 students, there will be equal time for students, parents and teachers (roughly 5 min each) to contribute to a discussion around the learning progress of the student.

This is an opportunity for the students to connect further with their learning by prompting them to reflect on their goals and their learning in general.

Three Way Conversations are important:

• To highlight that the opinions and experiences of parents, students and teachers are valued.
• To empower the student to take responsibility for his/her learning
• To give the parent and teacher a chance to hear the student reflect on his/her progress in his/her own words
• To reassure students that parents and teachers are there to support them
• To hold students accountable for their academic and behavioural choice
• To give the parent the opportunity to see the teacher and student interact
• To provide the teacher with insight into the parent-child relationship and home structure in a non-intimidating way

Although bookings for the interviews this week have closed, you can still organise a time by contacting your child’s teacher directly. 

Interviews are scheduled for tomorrow from 1:30-6pm and Thursday from 4-6pm.  Bookings are available for all classroom teachers, specialist teachers and tutors.

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge

Well done to all students who have commenced the Premier’s Reading Challenge.  We have a number of students who have completed, or are well on their way to completing the list of recommended reading, and we also have many students who have submitted book reviews- well done!  

Please take some time to register your child/ren for this event over the school holiday break if you haven’t already done so.  Log in details can be found in each student’s home reading log or student diary.

Congratulations to the following students who have completed the Challenge- excellent effort! 

All students who complete the Premiers’ Reading Challenge will receive a certificate of participation when the Challenge finishes in early September.  Well done again, and keep up the reading!
