CHS All Abilities Boccia Team

Boccia is a paralympic sport for athletes in wheelchairs, it is similar to lawn bowls and bocce. However, it can be played by everyone, with restrictions on more able-bodied players to even play. All players are seated and take turns to roll or throw their ball toward the jack. The three players in a team are working together to get their balls closest to the jack and limit the impact of the opposition.

Matilda Fell, from Year 8, assembled a team of 4 friends (Kyndra, Zoe, Frazer and Joseph) to represent CHS against 8 local high schools for the chance to represent Sydney South West at the state carnival. CHS were great team, competed strongly and won a number of ends but just not enough to be the champions. Sarah Redfern HS were the eventual champions and will represent our area at State. The team have vowed to keep on practising to improve skills and strategy.

Matilda has been offered opportunities to compete against other students with physical needs at higher level competitions after her performances.

In Term 3, CHS will assemble a 4 member all abilities tenpin bowling team who will compete to win a place at the state finals representing Sydney South West. More information to come.
