Japanese

On Friday 26th May, a group of almost 40 year 8 students travelled to Sydney to learn the traditional Japanese art of Shodo. They learnt about the appropriate posture, correct techniques when holding the brush and drawing the characters, and the various history behind the calligraphy. Their final Shodo pieces were fantastic!

Entertainment Industry

In Entertainment Industry, the students have been developing their skills to set up and run the audio operations for a range of school-based events. The students successfully ran the Anzac Day ceremonies, scenes from Macbeth in class, as well as the various year groups' Wellbeing Assemblies.  The class have developed the ability to set up a PA system from scratch and operate a mixing console.

Dance

Congratulations to Ms Jessica Eaton and the CAPA Club Dance group for their performance at the In the Spotlight Dance Festival at the Seymour Centre on Thursday, 15th June. They performed a piece titled 'Infectious', choreographed by Ms Eaton. The girls were part of a program featuring public schools from K-12. This is such a great opportunity for the girls to show case their hard work and commitment to dance. If you did not catch their performance, you will be able to do so at the CAPA Showcase later this year.

Music

In Music, the students have been developing their performance skills on either keyboard or guitar. The focus has been for students to demonstrate their ability to play with both hands and move fluently between a range of chords or melodic lines. Next up the students will learn to perform the 12 bar blues in a small ensemble!

 Visual Design

In Stage 5 Visual Design the students have been designing a skateboard deck that reflects Australian culture or identity. Students have drawn inspiration from the artworks of Reg Mombassa and his iconic Mambo designs.

Drama

This term Year 11 are exploring the role elements such as costume, direction, lighting and set design have on an audience. They have been working in small groups to design and direct scenes from Ruby Moon by Matt Cameron. To further develop their understanding, they visited Ensemble Theatre in Kirribilli to attend a production of the Tony award nominated play Clyde’s by Lynn Nottage.

CAPA Club students participated in an improvisation workshop with Margie Breen. Thank you Belvoir Theatre for providing this excellent opportunity for our drama students!
