Principal’s Message

Mrs Katherine Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

Unbelievably we are heading into the last two weeks of Term 2. Time certainly flies. It was lovely to have parents and our wider school community help us celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart last week. It is always lovely to have everyone together at school to celebrate what it means to be a part of Sacred Heart School.

This Wednesday we will be having a visit from Senior Constable Stride from the Narrabri Police in his role as Police School Liaison Officer. He will be coming to talk with our students about the importance of cyber safety and how to be safe when working online.

Our debating teams begin their campaign for 2023 this year against St Xavier's Gunnedah. Thank you to Mrs Fenton and Miss Morrissey for preparing our students.

In 2023 there have been some curriculum reform made to the English and Mathematics syllabi for K-2, with further reform to be implemented in 2024 for Yrs 3-6. As a result, there will be changes made to how we report on English and Mathematics for K-2 this year and Yrs 3-6 next year. To assist with understanding these changes for K-2, we will be holding a Parent Information Session tomorrow, Tuesday 20 June from  3-3:30pm.

We will also be holding our next School Advisory Council meeting on Tuesday 20 June at 5:30pm.

Transition for 2024 has commenced and we are very happy to welcome our new Kindergarten students for next year.

If you know of anyone wishing to enrol their child for 2024 and participate in the transition program this year, please let me know. Program details and enrolment forms are available by contacting Ms Traynor in the Office.

If you know of anyone who is intending to enrol at Sacred Heart either in Kindergarten or any other year group for 2023, please encourage them to contact me at school.

Happy birthday to Cameron (Transition) who celebrated his 5th birthday yesterday. We hope he had a great day!

Take care,

Kath Baird
