Outdoor Education Camp

Grampians

This semester we have participated in several different Outdoor Education (OES) activities  in our Year 8/9 OES Elective.

In OES we aimed to build our knowledge around safety in the outdoors, navigation, increasing our camping skills, as well as being open to try others different kinds of outdoor recreational activities such as Lawn bowls, boxing, and yoga.

We participated in a canoe day trip down the Serpentine Canoe Trail, completed an orienteering course at the Rochester River Track using the navigational skills learnt in class, and finished the semester off with a 3-day camp to the Grampians from 14th to 16th June.

The students showed great resilience in activities that were out of their comfort zone and their knowledge around Trangia cooking and safety in the outdoors has been exceptional. Overall is had been a very successful semester in Outdoor Educational Studies and the students had a great time leaning new skills.
