Classroom News - Year 2

Happy Holidays

Welcome to the last week of Term 3. The children have been working very hard all term, especially on their reading and writing, and they deserve a good break. Make the most of it!

Peaceful Kids

St Mary's is adopting the "Peaceful Kids" program which is designed to help children with their mental health and well being. There will be parent information sessions about this in the first week of next term. As part of this program Year 2 will be having some time during the week called "Breathing Time". As part of this breathing time the children are invited to bring a SMALL soft toy to school to help them with their breathing. This toy sits on their chest during the exercise and the children are meant to watch it move up and down. These toys may stay at school in a special "breathing buddy" spot.

Beanie Boos are ideal for this.

LEGO CLUB

Mrs Godwin has started a Lego Club on Thursday at 2nd lunch break. We are very grateful she has given up her lunch break for this. Some children have been invited to come along and a face a "LegoMasters" Challenge! They have been working very creatively and often in a team, to meet the demands of their challenge. Their challenge this week was to work together to build furniture. This will continue next term.

Ms Tavener decided this would be a good time to start an Origami Club as well. This happens in the classroom next door to the Lego club at the same time.

Music

Its been very exciting in Music this term.

The children have been learning the ukulele!   What fun!

Gymnastics

We will be having our last gymnastic lesson this Friday. Its been a wonderful experience for the children. We are very lucky to have such great facilities available for us to use, but especially to have such GREAT gymnastic coaches as well. Thanks Mr O'Hara and team!

Caring for our Environment

The children have been focusing on Caring for our Environment in HSIE and Religion over the past few weeks. We know its our responsibility to put our rubbish in the bin and try and keep our places clean. Hopefully this message will stay with them for a while and they will continue to display respect for our environment.

Safe Travels

May you all keep safe over the holiday break, especially if you are travelling on our roads. We look forward to seeing you all back safe and sound ready for Term 4!

Don't forget we will be in SUMMER UNIFORM!     Yay!
