Schools Sustainability Festival
The Year 6 Sustainability Leaders participated in the very first online Schools Sustainability Festival run by the Port Phillip Eco Centre on Wed 18th Nov. They presented a very entertaining video about creative ways to spread awareness about sustainable practices. The other schools were very impressed and they received lots of positive feedback about their presentation.
They also listened to other schools' workshops about bee hotels and were inspired by some young activists who spoke about their work in combating climate change.
It was a great day and the Sustainability leaders learnt a lot.
They are looking forward to presenting at the Kids Teaching Kids Conference next week!
Nature Play Area
Our nature play area has been a wonderful addition to our playground. Not only has it provided the children with new areas to explore and play but it is also attracting many birds back into our school. The recently planted trees are still establishing themselves and we aim to plant further indigenous species of plants in the new year to further complement the area and provide the children with an array of sensory and play experiences.
We would like to thank and acknowledge the assistance of the Australian Government for providing funding through the Local Schools Community Fund to assist with the completion of this stage of the project.
