5/6 News

Year 6 students have been exploring debating and persuasive writing. We have included an example of how they have argued both sides of the debate. Even if you don’t necessarily agree! Let’s see who is the most convincing...

Your friend is having a party on a school night and you’re invited!

So. Your friend is having a party huh? Parents not letting you go cause it’s a ‘school night’ or no parental supervision’. Pfft, don’t worry about them…

I don’t understand why parents don’t let you go to the party, but don’t be annoyed because everyone’s parents are grouches sometimes. Do you really think that THEY didn’t sneak out as kids? Oh my gosh, they totally did.

Not trying to defend parents at all but 1 reason they don’t let you out is that they are scared. Aww so cute! Parents worry too much like you are a minute late after curfew and they get crazy overwhelmed. Like the need to have more trust in us you know!

Thank you for listening, remember to live your life and take a risk. And parents… STOP BEING SUCH GROUCHES

I strongly believe that you should not sneak out to a party because your parents have not approved of this and you could possibly go missing! And how could you possibly do that to your poor parents? They would be worried sick about you! How heartless of you to put that stress on your poor, old parents? Your mother gave birth to you all those years ago and this is how you repay them. WOW, good on you!

Imagine you’re at the party and you do something STUPID! The shame and regret will follow you forever! The consequences will be horrible, a grounding, caught by the police, or even getting kicked out!

Is one small overrated party really worth all of this? No

Sharing the Planet

We have been hard at work on our ‘Sharing the Planet’ unit of inquiry. Our central idea is ‘It is a shared responsibility to take action in response to local and global issues’, the students have explored issues that they believe they can take an action on and make a difference in either the local or global community.
