Lots of activity and creativity happening in the Library this week as Mrs Swannell introduced Mr Baker's 7B Language & Literature students to "Bento Book Boxes" as an alternative visual and creative approach to reflecting on a text.
The boxes contain 5-8 items relating to either the characters, story line, theme, or setting, with the boxes themselves also decorated to reflect the chosen title. Each item must be carefully chosen and placed in the box, along with a copy of the book.
When presenting their boxes to the class students must explain why they chose these items and how they relate to the book.
Students were shown two sample boxes showcasing 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'The Librarian of Auschwitz' to get them started.
We are looking forward to seeing what each student comes up with over the next couple of weeks.
Year 7 Individuals & Society students and Year 10 EAL students have been learning all about research and the importance of 'referencing' and creating 'bibliographies' with help from Mrs Swannell in the library and their classrooms.
We now have 'mini collections' of Graphic Novels & Manga, Biography and Picture Books for students interested in these genres. These titles have been put onto their own collection shelves to make it easier to locate. Please take a look and don't forget to pass on any suggestions for new titles to add to these collections.
It is very important that students check their school emails for notices regarding overdue books and ensure that items are returned promptly. It is particularly important at this time of year that any Class Set novelsyou may have are returned as these will be required for other classes to use.
Please check with Mrs Swannell if you have any queries about misplaced or lost items.
A reminder to all about our Access-It Library Catalogue which can be accessed via all devices whether at school or at home - follow the link below or go via Compass favourites>Library website

It is now possible to search our entire collection (fiction, non-fiction, audiobooks, eBooks, magazines, ClickView) and even 'borrow' some online resources directly from the catalogue record.
Students and staff are also able to "login via SSO" (use Compass details) to check their own borrowing records, renew titles, and even create alerts for new items to add to their personal reading lists.
