From the Principal

Dear Parents,

This week we have undertaken our Evaluation visit for the Primary Years Programme. This is an exhaustive process which began 12 months ago. As a staff we began to reflect on our teaching and learning practices under the PYP; this reflection was grounded in the Standards and Practices as written for the programme. We had two virtual visitors who have interviewed teachers, staff, parents and School Council (as well as visiting classrooms – the wonders of technology!). They have also read mountains of documentation which reflect the implementation of the PYP in the school.

The result of this process (which occurs every five years) is that we will receive a report highlighting areas of strength and areas in which we can continue to grow. This report will be the basis of an Action Plan which will guide our direction in the PYP for the next few years. I would like to acknowledge the wonderful work undertaken by Mrs Zadow to prepare for this visit. It has been a huge undertaking and Jayne has certainly prepared us well. The community will be informed once the report is received (possibly early next year).

We normally have many people who volunteer in the school and we are thankful that we have this assistance across many aspects of school life. Due to the year that has been, the opportunities to assist in the school diminished – we certainly missed all that help, especially in the middle third of the year. This year, our annual thankyou afternoon tea has been cancelled. I sincerely thank anyone who has had the opportunity to volunteer this year in the school and we definitely look forward to a full year of parent involvement in 2021.

At the end of this week, I will be taking a further three weeks of long service leave, returning on Tuesday of the last week of school. Once again Mr Kriewaldt will deputise for me.

Blessings

Shane Paterson
