Principal's Report

Acting Principal - Rob Hogan

Assistant Principal -Anthea Mathers

Dear Families,

This week the school started its School Review. This is a process all schools go through every 4 years, and reflects on previous work, highlights across the school and then sets the direction for the next 4 years through the development of the strategic plan. Next Wednesday as part of the fieldwork review days, we will be holding a Parent Forum via Webex. This is a great opportunity for our parent community to have their say in the direction of the school for the next 4 years. This will be held at 10am and go for about an hour in length. Webex details will be sent out via Webex early next week.

Melbourne Cup Public Holiday

Just a reminder that next Tuesday, November 3rd, is a Public Holiday for the Melbourne Cup. We do have school on Monday, November 2nd as normal.

Book Week

What a great effort our students and staff have gone to, to celebrate Book Week with our Book character dress up day. Unfortunately, we could not hold a whole school parade, but a slideshow will be made and circulated to families to showcase the day. We even had a visit from Wally the Wanderer, our school mascot, who continues to remind us about our school values.

Parent Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents think of our school. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst all parents. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of parents’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, student engagement and experiences of remote and flexible learning. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. All parents will be invited to participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous. This year, the Parent Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 12th October to Friday 13th November.

The survey will be conducted

online only takes 20 minutes  to complete. An email along with a secure pin code will be distributed via email and we encourage all our families to participate.

School Photos

School Photos are taking place on Tuesday, November 10th. All students should have received information about this over the past week. If you have lost or misplaced your order envelope, please contact the office.

Use of 'The Centre'

With the easing of restrictions and the ability to undertake in non-contact indoor sports, we will be able to access the Gymnasium in 'The Centre' as of Monday, November 2nd. This is very exciting for both schools, and is just in time, before the hot weather really starts to hit us.

This is an amazing space and requires all of us to be very careful when using it, as the flooring can be easily scratched and marked if we are not careful.

Our Art room will also be relocating to the Art space down there as well. This is a much bigger space to work in and will allow the students to spread themselves out a lot more.

This is very exciting for our school, as we now take over all parts of the new school.

Athletics

It was great to see our Grade 5/6 students showcasing their amazing athletics skills this week. Lots of practice during PE sessions has taken place over the past few weeks, and it has been great to provide the opportunity to our students to participate in this. On Monday, November 2nd our Grade 3/4 students will be doing their athletics, followed by the Grade P/1/2 students on Wednesday, November 11th.

School Wide Positive Behaviour

Next week's focus is area specific addressing Outside the School Behaviours including coming and going from school.

Wishing you all a very happy and enjoyable  weekend.

Kind regards,

Rob and Anthea
