Open Girls Basketball

The Open Girls Basketball knockout on Wednesday 1 March was held at The Glen Innes Indoor Sports Center.

It was such a treat to host this event at our wonderful council facility. Thank you to both Inverell and MacIntyre High Schools for making the trip.

Some great basketball was played and congratulations to MacIntyre who have progressed in the competition.

Huge thanks to students, Riley Lightfoot (GIHS) and Noah (IHS) for their support with umpiring and Riley also for his assistance in coaching. Personal thanks from me to Natasha Gleeson and assistant Casey from MacIntyre, and Tom Scotton from Inverell High who were wonderful colleagues to work with on the day.

Additional thanks to Steve McCallister for his support and for having everything ready to go at the centre.

Open Boys Basketball

Congratulationsto the GIHS Open Boys Basketball team. They defeated a spirited Guyra squad 38 -24. The boys went on to defeat the highly credentialed Armidale Secondary College 59- 51. Farrer went on to defeat Glen 62 -37. All players for GIHS contributed well with Brendan Landsborough and Corey Chaffey showing real grit and skill. Well done to a great bunch of young men.
