Clean Up Australia Day

Ian Kiernan’s original idea in 1989, to make a difference in his own backyard by cleaning up Sydney Harbour has now become Australia’s largest community-based environmental event, with the first official Clean Up Australia Day on 21 January 1990.

Sunday 5th March was the official day for Clean Up Australia Day 2023. Glen Innes High School held our event on Monday 6th of March, with students from years 7 to 10 participating alongside our wonderful staff. 

Our SRC students cleaned up our local parkland areas. Years 7 and 8 students worked hard cleaning up rubbish from the Glen Innes Show Ground.  Years 9-10 showed pride in our school by cleaning their allocated areas at GIHS. 

All students should be commended for their efforts in keeping our school and surrounding areas clean. Thank you, students and staff!
