Year 11 Standard English

As part of their Reading to Write module,  Year 11 Standard students undertook a gun debate in class. The class was split in half with half of the students required to research and debate Australian gun laws, and the other half to argue the benefits of American gun laws. After fifteen minutes of research time, students nominated a representative to speak at the debate forum under either USA or Australia. The Americans had a 'Texan' speaker and the Australian side had Aussie reps. A lively debate was held, with each half of the class getting to rebut the arguments presented. The students were so enthusiastic and argued their points with valour and conviction that they actually ran out of class time. The bell rang and students were still arguing their cases. As I walked passed another class the following lesson, I could still hear students discussing their points eagerly.

Congratulations on a fantastic debate!
