ATSI News Term 1 Week 2 2023

My name is Sue Dunn and I am the Aboriginal Education teacher (AET). This is my fourth year in this position. I work with students individually and in small groups throughout the school in Literacy and Maths and provide resources to the teaching staff for Indigenous perspectives in the curriculum. Phoebe Lekkas will be the Aboriginal Community Engagement Officer (ACEO) while Jae is on leave. We are based in the Cultural Hub in Stillwell building. Students are able to come to our room on Tuesday lunch time to participate in cultural activities. We organise excursions for ATSI students and incursions for the whole school.

Naa Marni, My name is Phoebe Lekkas and I am the new Aboriginal Community Education Officer for term 1 & 2! I am a Larrakia woman meaning my tribe is near the top of Darwin. Although my tribe is from Darwin I have grown up in Adelaide. I am really passionate about my culture and ensuring that our First Nations students are thriving in and outside of the classroom. I am at Hackham East on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays so if you see me walking around the school please do come say hi!

Nakutha,
