WELCOME BACK!

Welcome back to the 2023 School Year!!!

We are very excited to welcome a new school year and have most things back to pre COVID normal.

We have had a very settled start to the year and are looking forward to this continuing in order for our students to continue to grow, thrive and be happy and settled at school.

As a school we will continue to have a focus on our high expectations for learning, behaviour and how as a school community we treat each other. We will continue to collaborate as a staff and with families and to foster opportunities for our children to learn to collaborate. At HEPS we are also very proud of our committed staff who provide high quality learning for our students.

As partners in your child’s wellbeing and education we appreciate your communication, feedback and questions. You would have been notified of which social media platform your child’s class teacher will be using this year – Facebook or SeeSaw. Please follow the class protocols to communicate with the teacher or make a time to meet with them face to face on certain nights.

HEPS Learning Teams

The staff, including our wonderful SSOs work in collaborative teams with a focus on creating rigorous, challenging and engaging learning opportunities for all of our students. I would like to acknowledge the professionalism, commitment and wonderful job that all of our “HEPS Village” staff do to support each and every one of our learners. These are our teams in 2023.

We welcome the following new staff to our HEPS village!

Georgia Lillis – We are excited to welcome Georgia who has already in a short time fitted into our HEPS village!! Georgia is teaching a number of our classes in the Health and PE role on Mondays and Tuesdays. Georgia has taught at Kingston in the South East of the state and is enjoys spending time with her puppy "Winnie".

Cassie Humphrey – We welcome Cassie as our Autism Inclusion teacher one day per week. Cassie comes with a wide range of experience as a teacher, coordinator and in Student Support Services as a Special Educator and Behaviour Coach Cassie is very familiar with our HEPS community having already worked with us in these roles. Cassie looks forward to connecting with our families at a morning tea to be organised later this term.

Demi Ross – may be a familiar face! Demi is teaching on Fridays with our Year 4/5 class whilst Mrs Dealtry works with our staff as a Maths mentor. Demi has been at our school for a number of years, firstly as an SSO and more recently as a relief teacher. Demi will also continue to cover a number of relief classes at our school throughout the year!

Jayde Vanderzalm – Jayde is currently studying to be a primary school teacher and will work part time in a number of classes as an SSO supporting our teachers and students. Jayde knows our school already as she did a block of her pre-service teaching at HEPS last year in our R/1 classes.

Phoebe Lekkas - Phoebe Lekkas is our new Aboriginal Community Education Officer for term 1 & 2! She is a Larrakia woman meaning my tribe is near the top of Darwin. Although my tribe is from Darwin I have grown up in Adelaide. I am really passionate about my culture and ensuring that our First Nations students are thriving in and outside of the classroom. I am at Hackham East on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays so if you see me walking around the school please do come say hi!
