From the Principal

Ms Noelene Hussey

Dear Families

Our children are learning about the Church season of Lent and they are preparing for Easter, and the celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus. During Lent the annual Caritas Australia Project Compassion Appeal takes place. Donations to Project Compassion allow Caritas Australia, the Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, to work with local communities around the world to end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity.

The theme of Project Compassion 2023 is ‘For All Future Generations’ and reminds us that the good we do today extends to impact the lives of generations to come. It invites us to make the world a better place by working together now and finding long-term solutions to global issues.  Our children will be encouraged to support the fundraiser.

I would like to thank our families who came along to our Opening School Picnic last week. It was great to see families connecting with other families and enjoying each other's company. We received positive feedback about the great sense of community we have amongst our parents and staff. Our children had a great time playing with one another. If you couldn’t attend our picnic I hope you can come along to other events we have planned for later in the year.

Congratulations to our Swimming Squad who all made us very proud by coming third at the Sunbury Primary Schools Swimming Carnival last week. We have several children going to represent St Anne’s at the District level this week. I would like to thank Kelly Skehan for all her help in supporting and guiding our children at trials and on the day. Thank you to all our children who tried their best and supported one another by cheering each other on. Thanks to our staff who organised the day, scored and supervised our children. School Uniform

Wearing our correct school uniform allows our children to feel a sense of pride in themselves as members of our school community and being a representative of it in our wider community.  Our uniform is one way for our children to feel a connection with the children in our school.  Therefore it is important our children are wearing their correct uniform each day.  Although our children are mostly wearing their uniform correctly the following are a few reminders;

  • Shoes are to be all black , including the soles
  • Hair that is in eyes or below the shoulders is to be tied up, including boys
  • Boys wear grey socks with their uniform and white socks with their sports uniform
  • If girls wear shorts as their summer uniform the shorts are to be purchased from our uniform shop
  • All sport shorts are expected to be purchased from our uniform shop
  • Coloured / dyed hair is not appropriate
  • Nail polish is not permitted and I ask that our children do not get false / SNS nails as they will be asked to remove the nail polish

If your child cannot wear their correct uniform, I ask that you write a note to your child’s teacher.

 Medication Administration

At times our children require medication whilst at school. If a child requires medication, then a Medical Management Plan and up to date Medication Authority Form is required. This needs to indicate the dosage, the method and timing of the administration of the medication. All medication must be in the original packaging with the expiry date and direction on how to store it.

At times staff are asked to administer panadol or anti antihistamines but will no longer be able to do this unless the above procedures have been followed.

Medical Management Plans and Authority Forms are available from the Office and Operoo.

Positive Behaviour For Learning - PBL

Our focus to start the year is to be respectful. We are focussing on our children speaking respectfully to one another in the classroom and in the yard.

At home you can support us by encouraging your children to speak respectfully to you and their siblings. If they are annoyed with a brother or sister then encourage them to walk away and calm down until they are ready to be respectful.

If we work together then we will have very respectful children at St Anne’s!

God Bless
