Reconnect: Onwards and upwards

A new school year is upon us and as such, new daily opportunities for success are on the horizon for every student at Cecil.

Last year, we successfully drove the average number of daily late arrivals from 8.6% per day down to just 1.6%. This year, we will continue supporting all students in ensuring they arrive to school on time. By arriving to school on time every single day, students put themselves in the best position to maximise their learning.

Here's what our bell times mean:

Struggling to get to school on time?

Here's some tips from Albertina Oraha, who was our most improved student in 2022:

"One of the first things I worked on was my sleeping pattern. I used to sleep way past 12 o'clock. Now, I am in bed by 10:30pm.

I also worked on my pre-sleep habits.  For instance, I made sure I am off social media an hour before going to sleep. I also made a habit of eating dinner earlier. I used to have dinner at 7:00pm and now I have dinner at 5:00pm.

I also started setting my alarm clock earlier. I used set my alarm at 7:00am. Now, I set it at 6:15am, which means I am now usually up by 6:30am. It gives me plenty of time to do the things I need to do, which means I am out of the house before 8:00am. Before making these changes, I used to leave the house at 8:15am, which made me late more often than not.

As a result of all these small changes, I've improved academically. I get more work done now. But most importantly, my mood is better lately. I no longer feel sluggish."
