A message from Stage 1
The Stage 1 teachers would like to extend a warm welcome to our new students and their families and welcome back our existing Ben Venue families. We look forward to developing a close relationship with you this year so that we can work together to help your child achieve their learning goals.
We are very fortunate to have Chantelle Lawrence (S1L) and Claudia Campbell (S1C) join the teaching team this year. Chantelle comes to us from Sandon Public School and Claudia may be a familiar face for some, as she worked with the Kindergarten Rosellas last year. Both teachers bring with them an enthusiasm and many fresh ideas to share with the Stage 1 team.
In Week 2 we sent home a 'Meet the Teacher' flyer, please let us know if you did not receive it. This contained the email address of your child's class teacher. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any concerns or questions and we will endeavour to get back to you in a timely manner. If there is a more urgent issue, or something we need to be aware of for that particular day, please contact the office.
We are revising phonemes that we know.
We are blending sounds together as a strategy for reading.
We are learning to listen for the sounds in words when spelling.
We are learning to gather and interpret data.
We are learning to represent this information in a graph.
This term we are improving our fitness and our gross motor skills by participating in a variety of modified sporting games. On these days, students may wear a Ben Venue skort or school shorts and bring joggers to school to change into if they wish. Students in Stage 1 do not need a separate sports uniform.
Sport is on Tuesday for all of Stage 1. PE lessons will vary for each class and further information will be provided at the 'Meet the Teacher' interviews. Our new Aboriginal design shirt is for Fridays and special events only and can be worn with shorts, a skort or under the pinafore.
