South West Division Swimming Championships

On Thursday 2nd March the South West Division Swimming Championships will be held at Aquazone, Warrnambool.  Entry to this carnival is on qualifying times so this means that the fastest swimmers who can swim within the qualifying times in each event get to represent the school.

A swimmer may enter up to three individual events (50m) plus two relays (freestyle and medley).  Please note that there are limitations on the number of events each school can enter.  Age categories are 9/10 years, 11 years, and 12/13 years.  Age is taken as at 31st December, 2023 (ie. whatever age the child turns during 2023).  Cost of entry is $8 per swimmer, regardless of the number of events they compete in. There are also events offered for children with a disability which do not require qualifying times. These are 50m free, back and breast.

If your child wishes to participate, please fill in the swimming entry form which is available from the school office.  This form must include swimming times that have been verified by a swimming coach or instructor over a distance of 50m and returned to the office by Thursday 16th February. Mrs Owen will let your child know if they have been selected.  Please note that the Region Championships (for students who proceed beyond the Division Championships) will be held on Tuesday 14th March in Horsham.

Parents are responsible for transport and supervision of their child/children at both of the Championships.  Warrnambool Primary School will send a teacher to the Division Championships, but they will have official duties throughout the day. Parents will also be needed to assist for an hour or so on the starting or finish line.

Curriculum Contributions 2023

Thank you to all the families who have paid curriculum contributions so far this year. All money paid goes towards supplying your children with the items needed for their classrooms and specialist classes. Without families paying, we would not be able to offer the great programs that we currently run. If you are yet to make payment towards the curriculum contributions, it’s not too late. Payment can be made via Compass (it will show as Course Confirmation / School Payments) or at the school office.

If you are yet to order a Jamo Journal, this can be done using the same link.
