Hi all

The Summer Interschool Sports started on Friday with an away game at Seaford North PS.  The games are "friendlies" with no ladders or points awarded for results.  We play 4 games and this culminates in a "Lightning Premiership" day when all schools send their best teams.

The Lightning Premiership day is a School Sport Victoria pathway event.  The winner is the Chelsea District champion and that team goes on to the Kingston Division finals.  Next step is the South Metro Region finals.  Win that and you are off to the Victorian State Finals!  It's a lengthy process that whittles down over a thousand Victorian primary schools to find one champion team.

The District to Division to Region to State pathway is repeated in many sports such as athletics, swimming, cross country, winter sports and others.

Our swimming squad is starting to take shape.  We had a carnival late last year with all events decided over 25m with MacKillop (Green) house winning our first ever swimming trophy.   The Chelsea District Swimming Carnival is on Friday 3rd March at the Pines Aquatic Centre.  All races will be 50m.

We have a good number of students turning up to our training on Monday and Wednesday mornings and they are getting fitter, stronger and faster.  We have students attending who will not make it to the District squad but they are there simply to improve.

I will highlight one child, Tafi from Year 5.  Last year she came to training with very little swimming experience.  She was a complete novice in all strokes other than freestyle.  But she kept showing up to training.  Late last year, at the house carnival, she ran 2nd in freestyle and backstroke.   This year, Tafi will be representing St Louis at the District Carnival in at least 2 events!

Thank you to all of the parents who are getting their kids to the pool by 7 am and to school by the start of the day.  It shows great support and your children are the better for it.

Yours in Sports
