Parent Helpers - training

One-hour training session

From Sarah, Assistant Principal

North Melbourne Primary School is committed to building strong relationships between school and home. An integral part of our classroom program is parental assistance. Classroom teachers value the support of parents to enable them to provide high-quality teaching and learning programs.

This year, NMPS is offering a Classroom Helpers Training morning. This one-hour session focuses on how you can support your child’s learning while volunteering in the classroom. It will give an insight into the types of activities that are part of our literacy and numeracy program, the procedures involved in assisting, as well as relevant questions and prompts to support students and encourage them to extend their skills and strategies.

This program is not compulsory for those who would like to help out in classrooms but is worthwhile for those who would like basic skills and strategies to effectively help small groups and individual children as they begin their schooling. While the knowledge and skills gained are valuable for supporting classroom teacher’s they also provide insights into helping your own children at home.

This program will run on Tuesday 3rd March, 9 am – 10 am (location to be confirmed closer to the date).

If you are interested in attending this session please RSVP to Sarah Nightingale, nightingale.sarah.s@edumail.vic.gov.au before Friday 28th February.
