February School Council (SC) Meeting Report

Our final meeting for the SC term last night was very constructive. Here are the highlights:

  • In addition to the Principal’s Report, which outlined how productive and positive the start to the school year has been for staff, students and parents at CHPS; we ratified the reports (including many policies) from the 4 subcommittees that had met prior to the meeting.
  • Mia and Andy presented on behalf of JSC. They gave us an outline on some of the JSC initiatives for the term. Thanks to you both for doing such a great job representing JSC!
  • CHAPS and MOTHS presented their planned activities for 2020 and received SC approval. We are very grateful to the CHAPS and MOTHS parents for their continued drive and commitment and for coordinating these community events for all of us to partake in.
  • The fair committee are doing an outstanding job to ensure that the upcoming CHPS fair will be a fun and memorable day out for all CHPS families and friends. More details can be found in the Fair Newsletter. Remember to sign up for a stall if you have some time to spare on the day.
  • Amy Prior is leading the school through the Pre-Review Self Evaluation this term. At the conclusion of our meeting last night, SC members had the opportunity to provide input into some of the key FISO dimensions via Google forms at an interactive workshop. Thanks to Amy for attending the SC meeting last night. We appreciate you taking the time to outline the methodology and demonstrating to us on how we can provide valued input into this process. Christian and Amy invite any additional parents that wish to be involved in this part of the pre review self-evaluation process to attend a Parent Consultation Session on March 2nd at 7:00pm.

Thanks again to the parents, teachers and additional school staff who participate in SC meetings and subcommittee meetings.

Our next meeting is the AGM on Wednesday March 18thand all members of the school community are welcome to attend. Following the AGM, we will hold our first meeting for the SC term and welcome any new members to Council. Nominations are still being accepted until 4pm today – thank you to those that have nominated!
