Visual Arts News

Calling all artists!

Don't forget the Art Competition!  Entries close next Tuesday, February 25th.

All work needs to have the student’s full name and class on the back of the artwork.

No name and class, no entry into the competition.

DETAILS:

Who can enter?

Everyone from Prep to Year 6!

Themes:

We want you to let your imagination run wild!

Your theme is completely up to you.

But… your artwork must be as original as possible – in other words, no direct copying of an image that already exists. (For example, do not submit a direct copy of a book cover.) Give your artwork your own personal touch and show off your creativity. However, if you want to have well-known characters feature in your own design, or want to use something well-known for inspiration (ie. as a starting point) for your own artwork, that is ok. If you are unsure, just ask Ms. Fiorentino in the Art room for advice.

Types of artworks:

Your artworks need to be flat to fit into the frames. This means you can do things like a drawing, painting, photography, digital art, collage, and the like.

However… there is a pinboard in the Foyer which is quite large. This means anyone who wants to make something that has a flat back but a raised surface (eg. a collage with beads on it) or something light that can be hung (eg. a woven piece) can still enter the competition. We may be able to accept several pieces like this based on what fits on the pinboard.

Submission date:

All work must be submitted to the Office with the student’s name and class clearly labelled by …… Tuesday 25th February.

Madii and Danika will be overseeing the collection and hanging of the artworks. We will be displaying the artworks for approximately one month, then the Art Captains will organise the return of all work.

Madii, Danika and I look forward to seeing your amazing creations!

from Danika, Madii and Ms Fiorentino

The National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence (NDA) is an important day to mark Australian school students standing together in their communities to say ‘Bullying. No Way!’

Please wear something ORANGE to help support the day on Friday March 20th.

Students will participate in activities to understand the importance of raising awareness of bullying and will help towards creating a whole school kindness display.
