CAREERS INFO:
YEAR 12 CHANGE OF PREFERENCE
Check out change of preference dates on the VTAC website.
During the short change of preference time after your results are released, a representative from La Trobe University will be at MSC for you to meet with to discuss options. Kristina Marco will be available on Monday 17th December between 9.00am – 11.00am.
Remember that Universities and Tertiary Institutions are available during this time to support and advise students on options.
YEAR 12 TERTIARY OFFERS AND DEFERMENT POLICIES
VCE results for Year 12 students will be available on December 14th and Round One tertiary offers will be advised on January 16th, 2019. Some students may wish to defer their study. VTAC does not administer the deferment process for individual institutions. Not all courses can be deferred, so if a student wants to defer their offer they must ensure that deferment is available and then follow the instructions outlined on individual institutional websites. For links to deferment policies from the following tertiary institutions, see institutional information at http://www.vtac.edu.au/courses-inst/institutions/deferment.html
VCE PREPARATION LECTURES
Access Education is offering VCE preparation lectures for students completing Units 3 & 4 in 2019. The subject specific lectures are designed to prepare students for Unit 3 & 4 studies. The lectures are held in Melbourne in January and cost $60 per lecture- less if you book in a group of three. Further information can be obtained from visiting www.accesseducation.com.au or see Mrs O’Bree.
WORK EXPERIENCE OPPORTUNITY 2019
Are you currently in Year 9?
Are you interested in a professional work experience placement in Melbourne next year?
As part of The Alliance, our College, together with McGuire College, Shepparton High School and Wanganui Park Secondary College will be taking a group of students to stay together in Melbourne and participate in work experience in Term 2 next year.
This is a great opportunity to test out your passions, explore where your VCE subjects can take you, and know what it’s like to work in the city.
The placements are organised by Boundless, an organisation that connects students with work experience placements in hard-to-reach professions.
There is a cost to this activity. More details early 2019.
For more information or to register your interest regarding this opportunity please contact Ms O’Bree.
VICTORIAN TERTIARY ADMISSION CENTRE [VTAC]
What is VTAC?
The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) is the central office that administers the application processes for places in tertiary courses, scholarships and the Special Entry Access Scheme at universities, TAFEs and independent tertiary colleges in Victoria (and a few outside Victoria). VTAC receives and forwards application information and supporting documentation to the relevant authorities at institutions.
VTAC is not a selection authority, does not determine the selection criteria used by institutions and does not decide who will receive an offer. All decisions about which applicants are offered a place are made by the course selection authorities at institutions.
After selection decisions have been made by the course authorities at institutions, VTAC sends offer messages to successful applicants on the institutions’ behalf. A reminder to Year 12 students to continually check VTAC for updates.
For more information go to their website at www.vtac.edu.au
