Senior Concert Band performed a successful first concert on Tuesday 27 February at the Year 7 Music Information Evening. Despite being early in the school year, they played four pieces with confidence and a great sound. Several students also played short solos to demonstrate their instruments for new Cobram Secondary College students and their parents.
The new Junior Concert Band is ready to go! We had a fantastic number of students sign up and it is a well balanced ensemble. I’m looking forward to working with our new musicians throughout the year. Lessons started on Friday and the first band rehearsal is after school on Tuesday 20 March. We are already planning the first performance for this ensemble, to occur in late Term Two.
Congratulations to Christine Magill and Mathilda Noble for gaining new roles as Band Leaders for 2018. I look forward to their student leadership within the music program.
The Vocal Program has begun the school year solidly under the excellent leadership of Hannah Magee. Lessons and rehearsals are running smoothly and it won’t be long before this enthusiastic ensemble of singers is performing.
Nathan Coldwell has been teaching guitar students. It is great to be able to offer tuition on this instrument in 2018. I look forward to hearing our guitar students develop in capability and confidence throughout the year.
