Student Wellbeing

As we return to school after the most recent lockdown, we remind all of our students about the expectations that we have for uniform. These include the following:
- The blazer needs to be the most outer garment coming to and leaving school
- Ties are a compulsory item to be worn as part of the winter uniform
- Health and PE uniform should only be worn on the days that students have practical Health and PE classes, not every day of the week.
- Black Jackets, Hoodies and extra tops are not part of the uniform and should not be worn to school at all.
- Hair colour needs to be natural in colour
- Artificial Nails are not acceptable
- Nose rings and facial piercings should not acceptable even under a mask that we are required to wear at the moment.
We remind all students and families that students who arrive at school with their uniform not in keeping with College expectations will be asked to correct the concern and if that is possible they will be sent home to change or removed from class until their uniform can be corrected.
We remind any family who may need assistance with uniform items that we are here to assist in any way we can.
We thank all of the students and families who support our expectations in relation to uniform and who continue to recognise the importance that it has in promoting who we are as a school.
Student Leaders involvement in the School Review
Over the last week, the school has been going through the process of a school review and last Tuesday and Wednesday significant groups of students had an opportunity to talk to the Reviewers and give them an insight into our school and what is working and what they would like to see change into the future.
On Tuesday, we had groups of students from Years 7-9 and Years 10-12 talking to the Reviewers and then on Wednesday, senior student leaders, the Year 11 and 12 Student Representative Council and our Lamp Bearers were interviewed.
We know that the Reviewers were very impressed with the students who engaged with the them especially in the way in which they spoke openly and with such clarity about our school.
We thank them for the contribution they make to our school every day.
Parent Involvement in our Child Safety Committee
At the end of Term 2, an invitation was sent to all families about joining our Child Safety Committee. This invitation was sent via SEQTA and I thank the 16 parents who offered to be involved and assist the school in our Child Safety Standards.
Now that we have returned to school we will be able to facilitate our first meeting with parents and involve our parent community in this work.
NCCD Attachment in this edition of the Marian
Please find included in this edition of the Marian information in relation to Government expectations with the process for the collection of data of students who may have had an adjustment made to their learning program. We will also send this information out via Operoo to all of our families. If you have any concerns or questions please direct them to either Tracey Deguara – Learning Diversity Leader or myself.
Wellbeing Tip for us all
During these times, it is important that all of our students, staff and parents have brain breaks, go for a walk, and play with their pets or just doing something to break up the day. We need to all look after ourselves so we can look after each other.
