School Counsellor

Emily Bieber - at Kalinda on Tuesdays  and Thursdays in Term 3.

Hi everyone, here’s a little round-up of what’s being going on in the wellbeing “department”!

Calling it a department is a funny word indeed: technically it’s just me! But because I know that all KPS staff place a high level of importance on the wellbeing of our students, it’s a BIG department. All KPS staff are part of the wellbeing team here. Since I began working at KPS about three years ago I have constantly been impressed by the willingness of teaching staff to understand their students’ wellbeing needs, and already have many ideas about what might be some challenges and how to face them.

Around the campus, we’ve put a few new plants in with the students who are doing some on-site learning. Hopefully, the spring rain will give them a big boost (the plants, not the kids). Not all the plants will survive, but we’re learning to garden and for many children, it’s been a series of “firsts”: first time using a shovel or secateurs, first attempts at growing new plants from cuttings, first time planting a tree. It fills ME with loads of joy and I hope the kids feel the same way.

Here are some blooms from my place…..sending my warmest wishes for continuing tough times.
