R U OK?

As parents, living through a global pandemic, I don’t think there has ever been a time where this statement has been more valid or needed - R U OK?

The truth is, during this stage in all our lives, there are days when we ALL struggle, and that’s OK! Whether it’s juggling work, remote learning, our kids' emotions, caring for our families, looking out for the wellbeing of our friends and being a good neighbour! It all adds up, and it can definitely take its toll. One of the most helpful things we can do, is check in with ourselves as well as checking in with others, it doesn’t have to be complex – a simple R U OK? is a great start. Be open to both giving and receiving care. Ask yourself, what self-care measures can I take to help myself and how can I extend that care to others?

You never truly know the difference you can have or the impact you can make, simply by caring.

R U OK? is a harm prevention charity that encourages people to stay connected and have conversations that can help others through difficult times in their lives.

Their work focuses on building the motivation, confidence, and skills of a person so that they have the tools to facilitate meaningful conversations with someone who is struggling with life.

We know that now, more than ever is the time to check in with our loved ones – especially since we are missing the physical presence of many. This week, on September 9th, is a day dedicated to ‘checking in’ and asking - R U OK?

Have a great week
