Wellbeing Wednesdays

Each week during lockdown we are posting information for students aimed at providing them with strategies to support their health and wellbeing.

Christalia, our Adolescent Health Nurse led the way in the first week with “Maintaining your Wellbeing during COVID”.

Our next focus was getting physically active. National guidelines for physical activity recommend an hour a day of moderate to vigorous movement for teenagers. In Australia data shows only about 10% are meeting that target. It is especially challenging during lockdown.

Get Active Victoria has a fabulous range of indoor and outdoor activities available on their website. Dance, Cardio, Pilates, Thai Chi and so much more, and it is free. Students under fifteen need their parents to sign up for them to access the activities.

We want all our students to take movement snacks during the day. Teachers are finishing classes at least five minutes early and starting five minutes late. This allows students to take a break and MOVE. As little as 2 minutes of exercise provides health benefits.

Movement snacks are a great way to boost mood, body and mind, so snack away!
