From the Principal

I sincerely thank all families for supporting the college to deliver our remote learning program. Our teachers, students and families continue to do a magnificent job in supporting each other through this difficult time. We are working hard to provide support for your children in this online environment. We hope to see them on-site soon. Please contact the school if your child is having problems engaging in remote learning. We can provide wellbeing support, technical support including supplying laptops or general advice.

We are holding two parent forums on Monday 30th August at 4.30pm and 5.30pm to answer questions that parents might have regarding remote learning, wellbeing or VCE or anything else that might be of interest to families.

Interestingly, the recent state NAPLAN results would suggest that the impact on learning for students is not as great as some believe. Across secondary schools, more students are achieving in the top two bands of Reading compared to 2019 and there are fewer students in the bottom two bands. Year 7 students improved in Reading, Writing and Spelling compared to 2019 and achieved the highest scores of any state or territory for Reading and Numeracy. Our own NAPLAN results will be released next week.

The tendering process for the government funding we have received to upgrade and modernise our school has begun. This includes provision for 250 more students. Principal Design Consultants (PDC/Architects) will be leading the charge in designing the building and the surrounding site, starting from the Master Plan (AMP-2 phase) through to the Defects Liability Period. Some architects came to the school on a tour recently. Once we have an Architect on board – which should be next week - then the design team will walk us through the process which will involve further consultation with staff, students and parents.
