Principal News

Dear Parents, Students and Friends,
Jeremiah 29:11-14 (NIV)
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
We pray:
That we may be blessed and empowered with hope to walk in the mystery of our life.
That we may be people of hope - that "hopefulness" becomes our character, the quality of our person.
That we will reach out in love and compassion and bring hope to the many who live in unhealthy, uncertain, painful, sinful and violent situations.
That we will be a channel of hope for the young people in our care.
That we may be a bearers of Christ's light in our world.
That our hope is audacious.
Transform us Jesus, and send us a global charismatic family, a beacon of hope in this turbulent world, to be the face and hands of your tender mercy. Inspire our creativity to be bridge-builders, to journey with children and young people on the margins of life, and to respond boldly to emerging needs. Amen.
Mary our good mother...... pray for us

Awards Ceremony Year 11 & 12
It was a pleasure to note so many students from our senior groups performing well in their mid course reports. This was celebrated on Thursday at the Awards Ceremony.
Suffice to say that individually and collectively they are “stepping up” and are well on the way to achieving their hopes and dreams. This never comes without hard work and focus which many are displaying. My congratulations to everyone who was recognised at this event. It was encouraging to see so many parents and grandparents also attending. Being part of these moments are great emotional deposits of love in their lives. Never stop doing this please. It was also so heart warming to see teachers giving loud applause to students who have done well. Teachers are wanting this success and are working hard for their students by offering numerous opportunities for learning support and encouragement. I urge students to continue to develop these relationships and “stay the distance” until the very finish. Attend all classes and workshops offered, submit the drafts and do the extra needed to ensure success continues.
Staff Professional Learning Day
Last Friday was a Staff Professional Learning Day. On this day we held our annual Spirituality Day. This year we welcomed representatives of our Founders, Marist Schools Australia and the Sisters of Mercy. Mercy Sisters, Trish Johnston and Therese Foley presented some insight into Mercy thinking by looking at Creation Theology. Staff were asked to reflect on a loving God who is seen in all things and how our stewardship of life is not just our work but God’s Mission. We need to take care of all creation as it is all linked and we are part of this wonderous creation!
Paul Harris from Marist Australia, Mission and Life Formation presented on “Audacious Hope”. That staff at Marian Catholic College are not only beacons of hope to those in our care, but to live our College Vision and Mission to with courage and bravery. This means to seek out every opportunity to encourage our students to live lives of hope, to believe in their dreams and live life to the full. Staff wrote messages of hope to the students and many viewed them on return after the long weekend.
Peace and Best Wishes,
Principal
