Have you recently changed, or are about to change, address, home, mobile or work phone number or email address? Please remember to ring the College on 9571 7838 or update your details on Xuno to keep us informed.

PTV logo now incorporated onto GEC student ID card

Our student ID cards are now a PTV Approved School Student ID. This replaces the need to purchase a PTV School Student ID where you need to have photos, complete a form and have it stamped by the office.

Primary and secondary school students aged 5 to 18 can travel on a Child myki

If you're aged 17 and 18 you must carry proof of age ID (such as a passport, learner permit, driver licence, Proof of Age card, Key Pass), or proof of another concession entitlement (such as a Health Care Card, a PTV School Student ID or PTV Approved School Student ID).

School students can also purchase a half or full year student pass in their chosen area and must also carry a PTV Approved School Student ID card or PTV School Student ID card.

Approvals for excursions

Students are not permitted to leave the school to attend an excursion or to attend sporting events without written permission from parents or guardians. This can take the form of an electronic approval either through the XUNO portal / APP or an email or a signed permission form.

As part of the 2020 reenrolment process families were asked to complete the approval process for the following events:

  • Whole School Sport Levy (includes swimming, cross country, athletics and interschool sports)
  • Local excursion consent form
  • Year 9 program

A number of these permissions remain outstanding and we ask that you logon to the XUNO portal / APP  to complete the approvals. A paper form will be coming home and a follow up text message will be sent.

If you have any questions or difficulties then please contact the General Office.

Camps, Sports & Excursions Fund (CSEF)

The CSEF is provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.

If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF. A special consideration category also exists for asylum seeker and refugee families. The allowance is paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.

The annual CSEF amount per student is $225 for secondary school students.

Please find attached the CSEF application form.

If you applied for the CSEF here at GEC in 2019, you do not need to complete an application form in 2020 unless there has been a change in your family circumstances (such as a change of custody, change of name, concession card number, or new siblings commencing at the school in 2020).

You only need to complete an application form if you are new to GEC in 2020 or you did not apply in 2019.

Please contact the General Office on 9571 7838 if you have any questions.

Student Absences

Student absences should be reported to the school on the day of the absence. Parents are reminded that the College has a designated telephone line for notification of student absence – 9571 4178.

There is also an absence proforma in the student planner that parents can complete for the student to return to the General Office on their return to school.

Early Leavers

If your child needs to leave school early you are required to provide a signed note for them to show their year level coordinator and bring down to the General Office when they sign out. Students are not permitted to leave the school early without signing out at the General Office.

This newsletter is emailed home to all families three times per term. If you have any items of interest to the college community or would like to advertise your business, please contact Penny Marks on 9571 7838.

2020 Parent Payments

The College is committed to providing the broadest possible educational opportunities to prepare our students for life-long learning and success in their chosen field. Most funding for the College comes from the Government. However the amount allocated is insufficient for us to provide the type of education expected by the College community and required in today’s complex world.  Thus we seek parent support with regards to the payment of the Consumable Materials and Service charges. These are used during the school year for the direct and immediate benefit of each student.  Items such as Instrumental Music, Electives, CNED, Edrolo are user pays and payment must be paid to the office.

There are several methods of making payments including, XUNO (Events and Fees and Levies), Cash, Cheque, BPAY, EFTPOS, Centrepay, and installment plans.  Parents experiencing financial hardship are able to enter into confidential payment arrangements by contacting the nominated parent payment contact person, the School Business Manager (Gabrielle Darvell) on 9571 7838 or

 darvell.gabrielle.g@edumail.vic.gov.au

Thank you to those families who have been able to make a contribution thus far. Monthly statements will be sent out to those families with outstanding fees.
