Faith and Wellbeing Assistant Principal's Report

Assumption Mass

Last week we were very blessed to have Fr Daniel Serratore come and celebrate Mass with the whole of the School Community for the great feast of the Assumption.  During this homily Fr Dan spoke of how we all want to be successful in life and Mary’s life is held up as a model of what a successful life looks like.  Our challenge is to be open as she was, and to say yes to the plan God has for our life.  Mary, Mother of Nazareth, pray for us all.

Uniform

We have had a number of our girls wanting to wear long pants with the winter uniform.  This has been an option in our uniform for a number of years.  Unfortunately the stock of the girls pants at the uniform shop have run out.  In an attempt to assist our girls who desire to take up the option of pants, last week David Lowey from Buxwear, our Principal Mr Cosentino and a number of students met to discuss what could be done for the girls.  It was agreed that there would be available blue pants with a small Nazareth Logo attached from the uniform shop.  David is working on this and we hope to have them available in the next few weeks.  In the meantime, girls can wear blue pants that are a colour match to the uniform.

A reminder also that our boys are to be clean shaven on school days and that ties and blazers are a compulsory part of the uniform for all students.  If your child is out of uniform, please provide a note for her/his Pastoral Teacher as we are working on developing a sense of pride in our Nazareth uniform and students consistently wearing it appropriately.

If you have any questions or concerns about uniform, please contact your child’s Pastoral Teacher or Head of House.

Thursday Mass 8.10am

A reminder that each Thursday we have Mass celebrated in the school Chapel at 8.10am. All students are invited to attend and parents/guardians are most welcome to join us.  It is a great way to start the day.

2018 School Leaders

In the next few weeks we will start the process of electing the Year 12 School Captains, Vice Captains and House Leaders for 2018.  Next year we will have two School Captains, two School Vice Captains and two House Leaders for each House from Year 12.  We encourage parents of students in Year 11 to start talking to them about these positions and encourage them to apply.  It is a great opportunity for these students to really grow and develop themselves.

Nursing home visit

Students have been giving up their time to serve within our local community. Every second Thursday volunteers have been enjoying the company of the residents at Regis Nursing Home. Sitting, chatting and grooving to the dance party music, fun and smile are the order of the afternoon. If students are interested in the next visit please see Mr Duckett for a permission slip.

Blessings,
