Stephanie Alexander Kitchen
All students have now had a taste of the Middle East and completed this tasty menu. Our menu consisted of falafels, Israeli salad and pita bread. Our Year 3 students are currently working their way up to making a full menu, so they made the falafels and the delicious salad. We had a close look and feel of some crystallised rock salt from the Dead Sea, and talked about Middle Eastern cuisine. There was also discussed what’s happening in our Stephanie Alexander garden, in particular, garlic which Alba has been focusing on with our Year 2 and 3 students.
A huge thank you must go out to the Daniel family for bringing the rock salt for us all to have a look at. Jodie was kind enough to stay and help with most of the kitchen sessions, where she talked about her experiences in Israel and the Dead Sea.
Thanks also to Planet Hope for the continued sponsorship of the SAKG program, where we use these wonderful, environmentally friendly cleaning products. To place an order please contact Jill via the planet hope website, www.planethope.com.au.
Please enjoy the comments and photographs taken by our students during this menu!

Falafels
The Falafels had heaps of flavour and were also crunchy
The bit where we got stuck was the shaping!
Israel salad
The salad was a great hit and sauce was really nice
The hardest bit was peeling the cucumber!
Pita bread
The pitas were delicious and got the thumbs up
Hardest part was flipping the pitas!
Pitas originated from Western Asia!
