Principal's Report

Dear Families and Friends of Nazareth College

The 2017 School Year Comes to an End

The end of the year is upon us and it's time for us to stop and assess what has been achieved and what else needs to be prioritised for the future.

Firstly, schools cannot function efficiently without the support of all those who are directly involved.  The Board and our Parish Priests, along with our Feeder Primary Schools, have all played a major role in establishing partnerships and working together in ensuring that the core Catholic beliefs are an integral part of our educational existence.

On that note, I would like to wish all of you a holy Christmas and hope that you are able to partake in your Parish services in celebrating the coming of Christ.  For those who may not belong to a Parish, embrace your family at this special time of the year and enjoy each other as well as keeping in mind those in our community who may not have family to share the Christmas festivities.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank staff, students and parents for an amazing year and all of our combined accomplishments.

There are some students who, for a variety of reasons, are leaving Nazareth College and venturing into new schools, workplaces or tertiary institutes.  Your contributions are valued and make up the unique community of Nazareth College.  We wish you all the very best and may you always take the Nazarene spirit with you wherever you go.

To Some Special Staff

A special thank you goes to Naomi Messina, our Italian Language Assistant.  We have truly been blessed to have her on staff throughout the 2017 school year.  Her assistance, not only in Italian but across all areas, is very much appreciated.

The College is grateful to the three staff members who will be finishing off at the end of this year.

Ms Natalie Selemba – commences Parental Leave and we hope that she will resume in the 2019 school year. She has been a vital contributor to the success of the University Business Management class.

Mr Olivier Miet – after eight years of service will be moving to Simonds Catholic College.  This will give him an opportunity to leave his mark at another school.  It will also give him more time each day to devote to his young family as he will be saving one and a half hours travel time each day.

Olivier has taken his Chess Club to 2017 Premiers this year.  The McCormack family will miss Mr Miet's leadership.  The students, staff and parents wish him all the very best in his new school.

Mr Jason Kam – after twenty-one (21) years of service, Jason is venturing to his new school, St Leonard's College, Brighton.  The College is extremely lucky to have such an adaptable, calm, reserved and organised leader.  He has held many positions of Leadership at Nazareth College and his skill set will be a loss to us and a gain to St Leonard's.

Good Luck Jason!  May you inspire others as you have inspired so many here at Nazareth.
