Physical Education and Sport

Physical Education

Welcome to Term 3! Prep - Grade 4 students have started the term with new units of work, with the Grade 5/6 students continuing their unit from last term. Over the last two weeks students have been focussing on the following:

Prep – Receiving a bounce pass and catching

Grade 1/2 – Introduction to the Commonwealth Games. Each week we will look at a different Commonwealth Games sport and then modify it to play in class. So far we have looked at Netball and Hockey.

Grade 3/4 – Throwing and catching. We will now move to using these skills in Invasion Games.

Grade 5/6 – Invasion Games: Ultimate Frisbee and Polo Hockey

Division Netball Final

On Wednesday the 20th of July, our Netball A girls team played in the Yarra Division final against Oxley Christian College. The girls played extremely well together for the full four quarters and won the match 68 - 20. Congratulations Amber, Chloe, Jazz, Lacey, Lily, Ryley and Zoe! Your skills, unity and ball movement were amazing to watch! A big thank you to the girls' coach, Cass Kinloch, and to the families who were able to support the girls on the day. The team will be back to full strength, with Olivia returning to the court, for the Regional finals on Tuesday 16th August at Waverley Netball Centre. Good luck!

Basketball Clinics

In addition to weekly PE classes, our Grade 3 and 4 students have begun participating in a 4-session block of basketball clinics. We have been fortunate to have two players from the Kilsyth Cobras coming out to run these sessions. Students are loving the extra time to practise their basketball skills in the lead up to Hoop Time.

Perceptual Motor Program (PMP)

To begin Term 3, our Prep students have participated in activities practising the following skills: crawling, jumping, balancing, skipping, kicking, throwing and catching. A big thank you to our Grade 5/6 students, who continue to show great leadership and enthusiasm whilst assisting with these sessions.
