A new Term, a new Semester, new opportunities to learn…
There are so many things that we could say about schooling and education, but it normally comes back to learning. Schools exist to provide opportunities for students to learn. So, what are our students learning?
Life is a big learning experience. While there is no detailed manual on what exactly to do, the Bible provides us with guidance and principles on how to live. How are we learning through life?
So, what are you learning as a person? What challenges face you? How will you work through those challenges?
When my children were younger, as a family, we played a game at dinner where I would ask them what they learned that day and they would ask me too! Sometimes they struggled to describe clearly what they learned, but regularly asking got them into the habit of reflecting on their day and becoming aware of what they had learned.
There is so much to life, so much to do, so much to learn. We are curious creatures, meaning that learning is in our DNA. We are learning constantly, but often we are not aware or realise that.
Take some time to think and consider the actions, activities, and interactions today that we are involved in…and try to answer the question, ‘What have you learned today?’
Following is a link to a SchoolTV special report for parents and caregivers of Year 12 students which may help with what to be aware of - the reality of ‘final year’ stress.
