What were you doing in 1997?
Meanwhile, after a number of years of planning, a committed Lutheran congregation in Werribee opened a new school!
25 years later, we are so proud to be celebrating the fruits of their labour and so thankful for the path that God had laid before all who have been part of the Good News community.
I invite you to take a look at all the festivities below, we look forward to celebrating our Jubilee Year with you, our GNLC community.
Australian Conference on Lutheran Education (ACLE) 2022 ACLE is scheduled every four years for Lutheran educators from around the country to gather for professional growth and collaboration. We are very lucky to have the event hosted in Melbourne, after a 6 year wait due to COVID-19 postponements. The theme for the Conference this year was ‘One Voice Many Paths’.
As Principal, I was so proud to share with other Lutheran educators some special moments on this national stage. We got to share the beautiful voice of Maria Sladecek, as she sang with the musicians in worship. Caitlyn Phillips shared the stage and her passion for First Nations education, along with Australians Together presenters and Wiradjuri woman Brenda Matthews. Our College Captains, Kathleen, Zedy and Aaradhana assisted with the opening worship on Thursday morning, sharing Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
It was an amazing experience and honour to represent our school and to display our College Values proudly. – Aaradhana
Meeting teachers and Heads of Schools from all over the area was incredible and a lot was learnt from the interactions we had with them. – Kathleen
Representing our school and speaking at this event was such an honour and a pleasure, especially when meeting previous teachers of Good News Lutheran College. – Zedy
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the Conference but hearing the other Captains speak so highly about it and how fortunate they were to have the opportunity to represent our college, was a proud moment to hear. – Hannah
