Dear Families

Over the next two weeks we have two very significant celebrations for our school community, St Anne’s feast day and our Year 4 children receive the Eucharist for the first time.

We celebrated St Anne’s feast day on Tuesday. We know about St Anne and her husband Jaochim from the canonical gospel of James. The wealthy couple had no children until an angel told Anne that she was expecting a child. Anne dedicated Mary, her daughter to God and she was raised and educated in the Temple. Anne is the most significant grandmother in history. Our theme of Growth, Wisdom and Love are related to Anne and the importance of grandparents in our lives..

Love - the love a grandparent has for their children and grandchildren

Wisdom - wisdom of grandparents to impart knowledge to their grandchildren

Growth - the nurturing role of grandparents towards their children and grandchildren.

Our children celebrated our feast day with mass and special activities in the classroom.

Our children in Year Four are celebrating receiving the Eucharist for the first time, last and next weekend. Our thoughts and prayers are with these children as they receive this significant sacrament for the first time. The Eucharist is holy and a sacred celebration that brings us closer to Jesus.

Congratulations to our football team who played extremely well but were unlucky not to win the divisional championships last week. Although we won 3 games, we lost to West Meadows Primary school by a point. I would like to thank our team for their sportsmanship and the way they supported one another throughout every game. Thanks to Chris Tankard for coaching the team and to our parents who came along and were a great support.

We wish our soccer team all the best as they represent St Anne’s in the divisional championships on Thursday.

SRC

Congratulations to our Prep children who will be representing their classes at our SRC meetings;

Prep W - Isla C Prep Gold - Lydia L

Ptep Blue - Poppy M Prep Maroon - Kirby J.

The SRC's have been working on gathering new ideas for future projects.

Building Update

We have been successful in engaging a builder to renovate our middle school building. The renovations began on Monday..

This means that we will need to relocate our classes;

Year 3M and W will be in the staffroom

Year 4 B and G will be in the Library

Year 4 M and W will be in the multi purpose room (now Year 6M)

Year 6 M will be in the Senior Hub

Junior Performing Arts will be in the classroom and Senior Performing Arts will be in the OSH Club room.

When we improve our facilities, there are many inconveniences but once finished they will enhance opportunities to improve our children’s outcomes.

COVID Update

You should have received another supply of rapid antigen tests. It is strongly recommended by the Department of Health that face masks are worn in indoor settings.

The period of time when someone is considered a recently confirmed case and therefore exempt from testing and isolation requirements has been reduced from the previous 12 weeks to 4 weeks.

Children who are household contacts and attend school must take five RATs over seven days and receive negative test results, and wear a face mask (if over eight years old) in indoor spaces. This applies from four weeks after the end of an isolation period when there was a case. Families and staff will also have to report being a household contact to their school after this four-week period.

Positive behaviour for Learning - PBL

BEING RESPONSIBLE is our next focus for our children both in the classroom and when playing outside. We will be teaching our children to do the things you know you are supposed to do and accept the outcomes of your actions by;

Using equipment properly

Taking care of others

Following instructions

Telling an adult if there is a problem

Recognising and managing my emotions

At home you can support us by talking to your children about ways they can be responsible so they can continue to develop positive relationships with yourself, their siblings and friends.

God Bless,
