CSEN Secondary Cross Country

Matthew McGrath

Last Thursday (28 July) we had a team of 37 students represent our school at CSEN Cross Country. This was held at Bundoora Park on a very muddy and slippery track against 18 other Christian schools across the state.

We have been training as a team over the past 8 weeks. Secondary students of all abilities came and trained as they were put through their paces by the Sports teachers (Mr McGrath, Mrs Wan and Ms Marshall). Students not only developed their fitness levels and endurance but got to be a part of a team that showed their support for each other by lining the finish line as our students finished their races, regardless of the result.

The course claimed some victims, with some crossing the finish line muddier than others, however one thing is for sure; our students gave their best effort and represented our school fantastically.

Thankfully we did have some very pleasing results as well. Our school came first out of all of the Division B schools. Meaning that next year we will be competing in Division A which is a huge achievement. We continue to punch well above our weight in terms of student numbers!

Individual Results

The following students placed in their races (different age groups)

Taylor Nel (2nd), Samantha Utley (3rd), Jesse Harrington (2nd), Tesia Haggai (2nd), Alesha Jabbour (3rd), Ethan Jabbour (1st), Lucas Faber (3rd), Megan Jansen (3rd).

Ethan Jabbour was an individual standout, producing a highlight of the day. He came first overall for all divisions in the Under 16 boys age group with an impressive time of 14 minutes, 55 seconds.

Thank you to all those students involved!
