Celebrating Differences

On Thursday 28 July, the Grade 1 and 2 students had a Cultural Dance incursion to learn more about cultural exploration, celebration and inclusion. These are topics we have been covering during our Integrated Studies unit ‘Celebrating Differences’, and it gave students the opportunity to immerse themselves in a world of traditional styles of dance, music and costume.

Students explored dance styles from Africa, Latin America, India and Spain, learning how environmental factors such as animals have influenced celebration and dance styles in different countries and cultures. Creating a ‘Circle of Confidence’ allowed students to support each other and cheer each other on as they demonstrated some of the moves they had learned over the course of their incursion.
