Principal's Update

Welcome back to everyone. I hope you all had a relaxing and refreshing holiday. Students were straight back into routine and into quality learning from the first minute on Tuesday.

Writing piece published

I’m ecstatic to announce that we had a student writing piece published in the Cobram Courier during the school holidays. This is something that we want to do on a regular basis. We want to put writing up on a pedestal and show students that there’s a purpose for writing and that we don’t just write because the teacher tells us to. Tully Ryan wrote a persuasive piece about having an AFL team and stadium in Shepparton. Tully’s piece is below.

Tully did all of the work himself including the revising and editing and he should be very proud of his efforts. I spoke with all students at assembly about the opportunity to be published and that as a school we’re looking for more pieces to be included in the Courier. I left students with the question, ‘Who will be the next student to be published in the Courier?’ I’m hoping this will generate motivation and interest towards writing.

Face Masks In Schools

We have received notification from the Education Department that the Victorian Department of Health strongly recommends all students aged 8 & above and staff wear face masks whilst indoor at schools. This is recommended to protect our students and staff. Whilst COVID continues to be an ongoing issue we are asking families to assist us in keeping our school community healthy. Disposable face masks will be made available to all students at school.

Students that are household contacts must follow the current guidelines -

  • Students must wear a fitted face mask
  • Students must complete a Rapid Antigen Test 5 times a week

Rapid Antigen Tests are available at the school office.

Face masks continue to remain mandatory on school buses due as they come under the Public Transport guidelines. Please ensure students have a face mask whilst travelling.

Parent Teacher Interviews

The Semester 2 parent teacher interviews will be held, in person, on Thursday the 21st July commencing at 3.45pm - 6.45pm. We encourage all parents to book a time with your child(s) classroom teacher to discuss their progress so far, discuss any concerns there may be, what you can do to help at home and to celebrate their successes!

Interviews will be held in your child's classroom. If the available times are not suitable, you can contact the school to arrange an alternative time/day.

Due to the current recommendations regarding the wearing of face masks within schools we are asking all families to please wear face masks. Hand sanitiser and disposable face masks will be available at each classroom.
