From the Principal

Dear Families,

What a great week it has been at SHNPS. Today we welcomed our 2023 Prep students to a transition session, there have been many achievements in student learning and we are busily preparing for our Indonesian Day next Friday.

On Tuesday 2nd August staff engaged in a Professional Learning day on Reading. The staff looked at our current practices and completed professional reading on the latest research into Reading.

Parking around the school

We know that it gets very busy around schools during drop off and pick up times. It is everyone's responsibility to ensure students are getting to and from school safely. We ask all parents to please follow all signs and road rules when parking at the school to keep everyone safe.

Curriculum Day

In the last newsletter there was an error with the date for our next Curriculum Day. Please note the correct date is Thursday 15th September. Apologies for any confusion this may have caused.

Parent Opinion Survey

The DET annual Parent Opinion Survey will open on the 15th August and will remain open until the 16th of September. Our school highly values the opinions of our parents and carers. Your responses assist our school to identify areas for improvement, plan for the future and also monitor our performance over time. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, student engagement and experiences of remote and flexible learning.

Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

Approximately 30 per cent of parents will be invited to participate in this year’s survey and it will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

All responses to the survey are anonymous.

If you are randomly selected, an envelope will be sent home with your child containing the school pin and the website enabling you to access the survey.

Book Week

Book week is approaching quickly. This year we will hold a Book Week Parade on Friday 26th August. More information will be sent home to families. It is a good time to start planning those costumes.

Masks and RATS

A reminder that it is strongly recommended from the Department of Education that staff and students 8 years and above wear a mask whilst at school.

Wearing masks is a simple step we can all take this winter to reduce the number of COVID cases and other winter illnesses and ensure our school is as safe as possible.

Thank you all for your ongoing support. We have plenty of masks for students at school. Rapid Antigen Tests program will continue for the remainder of the year.

COVID Update

Just a reminder to all parents that the isolation protocols still apply. If your child tests positive, they must isolate for 7 days, and we need you to ring the office to notify us for our reporting purposes.

It is important that you ring us or email the school so we can collect the information needed for our attendance data. If your child is a close contact they will need to wear a mask inside and undertake testing before coming to school. Please don't hesitate to contact the office if you need more information about this.

Have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards,

Brea
