RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Religious Education
Last Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, some of our students received the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Congratulations to those students and thank you to Fr Michael for guiding us through our spiritual journey. I’m sure the children are grateful to the staff and their families for supporting them in their preparation and celebrations.
Holy Week- the most sacred week in the liturgical calendar year.
Sunday marked the beginning of Holy Week, also known as 'Passion Week’. Palm Sunday, is the feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter and commemorates Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
Two significant days leading up to Easter Sunday are Holy Thursday and Good Friday. Holy Thursday was the day when Jesus Christ celebrated his final passover with his disciples (The Last Supper). As christians, we believe that Jesus washed the feet of his disciples' on the night of the Last Supper. For Jesus, it was the display of His humility and His servanthood.
Good Friday is the day that Jesus was crucified and died on the cross. This is the day we may feel outwardly dark and dismal; however, it actually commemorates Christ's greatest gift to us: Good Friday is good because it opens the possibility that we might live forever. The most joyously celebrated day is Easter Sunday marking the day of Christ’s resurrection from the dead- ‘Christ has risen’.
In Colac tradition, church groups and other organisations gather at 11:00am on Good Friday at the Colac Botanical Gardens for the annual christian event; the ‘Way of the Cross’. We invite the Sacred Heart School Community to join us in prayer and reflection as we walk our way through the Stations of the Cross. This most holy day is a time we remember the story of Jesus’ suffering and death on Good Friday
Wishing you all a safe and Happy Easter
