Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

Amazingly March has rushed past and here we are at the end of Term 1! Unfortunately the corona virus continues to rumble along and has taken down some of our students and staff, particularly in the last couple of weeks. A break from the school environment might be timely. I hope all families can enjoy some time together away from the routines that school life brings and all enjoy good health to make the most of this upcoming break.

Term 1 will finish on Thursday April 6th at 2:25pm.

We will be conducting our Athletic Sports for Grades Foundation - Two here at school between 11:30am and 1:30pm on Thursday so all of these children will need to wear their Sports Uniform to school on Thursday. Parents and grandparents are all welcome to attend.

Term 2 will begin for our students on Wednesday April 26th. Staff will be participating in a day of Professional learning on Monday, April 24th before the Public Holiday for A.N.Z.A.C. Day on Tuesday the 25th.

RECONCILIATION CEREMONIES Congratulations to all students who last week made their First Reconciliation in our Parish. As always thank you to Father Michael for his leadership and thank you to parents who supported their children through this preparation.

2024 FOUNDATION ENROLMENTS As we are currently accepting enrolment applications, I would encourage current families who have a younger child ready to begin school next year to advise us by completing the Connect Survey on PAM.  The survey is open now and will close at 12pm on 6 April 2023.

I am conscious that this is still quite early in the year and parents may not be certain as to whether a child will start in 2024 or 2025.  My advice is always that there is no rush for children to begin.  Most children turn six during their Foundation year and some may be already six on the first day.

Legally, children must have turned five by April 30th in their Foundation year to be enrolled but this is a minimum and does not reflect the demographics of most Foundation classes.  As always the Kindergarten teachers are excellent resources for parents if they are in any doubt about when their child should start school.  If they express any doubt the wise parent will listen carefully.  This advice is never criticism, some of us just take longer to hit our straps (but we’re worth waiting for!).  Advice to wait is given in the best interests of each individual child.
